Site of the week
Each week, Site of the Week examines a different investment Web site to reveal facilities that you may not know about and that will help you with your investing. Note: This examination of the Site of the Week is an independent opinion about the site published by Investors Internet Inc. No payment of any kind has been accepted for the review of the site.www.decisionpoint.com is renowned as one of the best sites for technical analysis on the Internet. That reputation has largely been built on the Members section, which includes charts, trackers and indicators for the independent investor. The free part of the site has navigation at the top of the page, and in the middle, to sections titled Chart Spotlight, Top Advisors Corner, and Learning Center. Down on the right, near the bottom of the home page is the navigation to the Glossary and Related Links. Chart Spotlight show a list of short articles each of which features a chart that explains, using technical analysis, the title of the article . Typically three or four new articles are added to the list each month. The articles usually address current topics, for example, the mid-October article is titled “Market is Oversold and Dangerous”, which it was in the middle of October. Each article starts with a chart that is followed by five or six paragraphs written by Carl Swenlin, who owns the site. Top Advisors Corner has another list of article, which are by a regular set of guest contributors. The guest contributors have their own websites but often the articles cannot be seen at the guests’ sites. About half a dozen articles are added each week. The guest contributors include Tim Ord, Steve Todd, Mark Young, Harry Boxer, David Schultz, Joe Duarte, Sy Harding, Gene Inger, Alan Newman, Richard Rhodes, Arthur Hill and others. Most of them provide their view of the market. Some of the contributors, like Harry Boxer, take a short term view, while others, such as Alan Newman, produce a monthly article. Carl Swenlin also contributes articles in this section, usually about the P/E Ratio for the market. The Learning Center divides its lessons into Overview and Key Concepts, Basic Chart Patterns, Market Indicators and Miscellaneous Articles. There are about 50 lessons in total and a link to the Glossary section of the site. The Glossary is practically indistinguishable from the Learning Center. It is a glossary of about 50 phrases, and each phrase is explained as fully as the topics in the Chart Spotlight and the Learning Center. Related Links is another free section and that contains links to about 50 other sites. www.decisionpoint.com is often mentioned when people list their favorite sites, so it is worth keeping a watch on it for its education and its analysis of the current market.
